HF Convo Voice Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 17, 2026
What This Service Does
HF Convo Voice is an unofficial tool that adds optional voice chat to Hack Forums conversation pages. The Chrome/Brave extension injects the voice controls into supported Hack Forums pages and connects to the voice service at voice.hftools.org.
Information Processed
- Hack Forums account identity returned by OAuth, including user ID, username, and user group.
- Authentication session cookies, signed extension login tokens, and short-lived socket tickets used to keep the voice connection authenticated.
- Voice room IDs derived from the conversation page URL, plus temporary socket IDs, muted state, and speaking state.
- Microphone audio after you click Join and grant microphone access.
- Standard server request metadata that may be present in hosting logs, such as IP address, user agent, request path, and timestamps.
- Connection metadata used by the HTTPS, WebSocket, and TURN relay layers, including IP address, for connectivity, abuse prevention, rate limiting, and security.
How Information Is Used
Account identity is used to confirm that only authenticated Hack Forums users can join voice rooms and to show who is speaking. Room state is used to connect peers and update the visible member list. Microphone audio is sent through relay-only WebRTC to other authenticated users in the same voice room.
The voice server relays signaling data needed to establish WebRTC connections, and the TURN relay forwards encrypted WebRTC packets. The service does not intentionally record or store microphone audio.
IP addresses may be processed by the hosting provider and TURN relay so the service can route traffic, keep relay-only WebRTC working, rate limit abuse, and investigate security issues. IP address data is not used for advertising, resale, precise location tracking, or unrelated analytics.
Limited Use
HF Convo Voice uses extension permissions and user data only to provide authenticated voice chat on supported Hack Forums conversation pages. User data is not used for advertising, creditworthiness, resale, or unrelated analytics. Personal and sensitive data is transmitted over HTTPS or WSS.
Sharing
HF Convo Voice does not sell user data and does not use user data for advertising. Your Hack Forums username, speaking state, and muted state are visible to other authenticated users in the same voice room. Your microphone audio is shared with connected users in the same voice room while you remain joined.
Retention
Room membership and speaking state are kept in memory while users are connected. Authentication sessions may remain valid for up to 14 days unless you log out or the session is otherwise cleared. Signed extension login tokens may remain valid for up to 30 days and are stored by the browser extension. Hosting logs, if enabled by the hosting provider, may be retained for operational and security purposes.
Your Controls
- You can avoid joining voice by not clicking Join.
- You can stop sharing audio by clicking Leave, closing the tab, or revoking microphone permission in your browser.
- You can uninstall the extension from Chrome or Brave at any time.
